It takes a leap of faith for a mother of 3 daughters to quit her job at 43 and start a new start up, but Debjani was confident that she had identified an unmet need of a market for Home food users and need for women empowerment as India has the biggest reservoir of untapped women resources. She left her successful career in the Real estate industry to solve a problem she experienced first-hand.

 

After being so busy in her professional career she often failed to treat the daughters with tasty home food and was struggling with house help always and restaurant food daily is not a healthy option, she explored the availability of Moms who can keep and thus planning to make a community of Mom chefs and slowly joined by home chefs too and thus Nanighar started in Sept 2019 with 30 Mom chefs. Today it is a growing community of 300 mom and home chefs. And another 100 plus are waiting.

 

 She started her career at the age of 19 when still she was in college and started her teaching profession in a morning school and continued college post that. She started her professional career with a consignee of Tata Chemicals before getting her graduation result with a salary of Rs 800/-, within a short span she bagged customer care executive (Brand) in Rediffusion Consultancy with a salary of 9000/- (within 8 months. )

After working for 3 years in Rediffusion she joined National Moulding Company Ltd and looked after the entire Brand - Pan India  including National Plastic Federation as Mr J M khemani was the president for 2 years  and Joined Shrachi group in 2002 when Rahul Todi , son of Industrialist Shrawan Todi came back to India, both started the real estate division and she takes the pride along with Junior Mr Todi of making the real estate division of Shrachi as one of the best  Real Estate Brand in Eastern India.

 

When in 2005 Industrialist Prasoon Mukherjee (with Govt of West Bengal with CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya) bagged the 1st FDI of INDIA by proposing a township on Kona express way on 380 acres of land and planned Mahabharat Motors she joined ad Head for Kolkata operation. In 8 months, she single handed sold Phase I and II (worth of 396 crs) when the land development was also not ready. She was directly reporting to Ciputra -the Industry house of Indonesia and travelled half of the world. Due to her personal reason she had to come back to Kolkata and joined the conglomerate of Eastern India’s top Industry houses like Emami, Shrachi, Keventer, Sureka etc for Kolkata’s most luxurious and tallest tower URBANA (67 acres of land) in 2007 1st Jan and her eldest daughter came in her life in Feb,2007 . After lot of legal battle, the project launched in the year 2010 and created history in Kolkata by selling 70% in the 1st year and 100% price escalation.

 

Today Urbana is the most desired Brand in Luxury Real Estate with a house of people like who heads the Organization like Pepsi, Diageo, MD of ICICI, MD of Bandhan Bank, Founder of Wow Momo, top actors and actresses, house of many IAS and IPS. She feels proud of making this Brand stand out. From a GM to a CEO and a Director it takes 8 years. She continued being the CEO till 2020.
